Based within the Housing Department of two District Councils, the Housing Link Worker will consult with individuals or families at risk of homelessness as a result of domestic abuse and offer advice in relation to their housing needs through one-to-one appointments or joint appointments with their Housing Support Worker.
The Housing Link Worker will provide specialist risk assessments for residents wishing to remain in their own home, taking into consideration the nature of the abuse.
They will make referrals to refuge, where appropriate, for residents having to leave their home due to domestic abuse. This could be in one of our city or county refuges, or on occasions where there ar no spaces or the accommodation available does not meet the needs of the client, they will seek to secure refuge provision elsewhere and will supervise the transition.
Should residents return to or move within the district as a result of domestic abuse, this service will provide a resettlement function to ensure residents are supported through this transition period and provide supported links to the local community.
This service is only available to North West Leicester and Oadby & Wigston residents at present. Your Housing Support Worker should refer you to this service if you have informed them that you have been experiencing domestic abuse.
